St. Simon's Citadel

This Citadel is located 60 km north-west of Aleppo.
It was named after the shepherd who lived on top of the column
for forty years where he used to preach to the people who where
accustomed to visit him for blessing. After Simeon`s death in
459 the Emperor Zenon ordered to build a cathedral in this
place.
