Apamea
|
|
Apamea was a treasure city and stud-depot of the Seleucid
kings. It was a capital of Apamene, 55 km northwest of Hama.
Apamea overlooks the Ghaab plain.
Its ruins date back to the Byzantine and Roman ages.
It is distinguished by its main street surrounded by columns
with twisted fluting. The colonnade street is about 2 km long
and 87 m wide.
