Mari was discovered in 1932 with twenty thousand tablets.
The tablets inscriptions narrate the political and diplomatic
life in the kingdom which dates back to the 3rd millennium BC.
Part of the ruins like statues, jewels and tablets are displayed
at the museums of Damascus, Aleppo, Deir Ezzor.
